About This Special Issue
Fuel cell is a modern power system which produces electricity through electrochemical reaction with low emission and sustainability. Since the basic fuels used are Hydrogen and Oxygen and the byproduct of the chemical reaction is water, with a least pollution it is very environment friendly. Since the late 1990s, the fuel cells are deployed in many applications including automobiles. However, it is still a challenge to make it cost effective and hence the researchers all around the world are still enthusiastically involved in the field of fuel cell research.
Among the various types of fuel cells, the three types namely, Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC), Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) and Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (DMFC) are still under research and development. The main objectives of fuel cell research are to reduce the manufacturing and maintenance costs, improve the efficiency of energy conversion and life time by reducing the losses involved, improve stack voltage and improve the fueling infrastructure. Hence, a need for an efficient control strategy to meet the above mentioned objectives is obvious and hence it is one of the key areas of research in the present days.
Therefore it is proposed to publish a special issue on the topic “Advanced control strategies for improvement of performance of Fuel Cells”.
Aims and Scope:
  1. Fuel Cell Technology
  2. Fuel Cell – Modelling, Simulation and Control
  3. Advancements in Fuel Cell Stack Concepts and Simulation
  4. Improvement of Efficiency and Lifetime of Fuel Cell
  5. Reducing Cost of Fuel Cell
  6. Components of Fuel Cell
  7. Fuel Cell in Transportation and Portable Applications
  8. Prognostics of Fuel Cell
