About This Special Issue
The main responsibility of power system utilities is to provide a reliable and economic electric energy supply to the customers with an acceptable level of quality. Normally, spare capacities and alternative operation facilities are considered in order to ensure adequacy and continuity of supply during failures and forced outages. These considerations in the network require extensive investment costs. The concept of distribution system automation has captured the attention of researchers and utility companies over the last decade. Even though, a lot of research have been undertaken and many works are still ongoing at the moment on “distribution system automation”, due to technological innovations and increasing connection of distributed energy source in to existing distribution network. In real word electric power is the most vital for all human beings. Electric power in most developing countries too less reliable and more interruption occurred in every time. The interruption and less reliability affect both utility and customers of the country. So everyone should participate in improvement of distribution reliability, power loss, power quality and etc. Based on Ethiopia statics from the three components of electric power system (generation, transmission and distribution) less attention in distribution network, that why more than 80% power interruption occurred at distribution system. In Ethiopia power distributed in centralized system or one way which mean generation, transmission and distribution facilitated by government and private companies did not participate which highly affected system reliability thought out the year. So for distribution network reliability, power loss, power quality and other problems can be improve by using different techniques like reconfiguration of distribution system, optimal sizing and location of DG and capacitors.
Aims and Scope:
  1. Reliability enhancement of distribution network
  2. Power loss reduction of distribution system
  3. Optimal reconfiguration for improve voltage profile, load balancing system
  4. Optimal location placement and sizing of DG and capacitor
  5. Power quality assessment and improvement of distribution system
  6. Energy (load) management of distribution system using smart technology
