About This Special Issue
General Introduction: Clinical medicine is the basis of all practice related to medicine. The general principle of medicine is to focus on the patient and not the illness. Situations were a patient suffers from a single medical condition are extremely rare. There is not a single illness that spares the liver; hepatic involvement may be due to the physiopathological mechanism, complications or adverse reactions of treatments. On the other hand, liver pathology has deep implications in hematology, oncology, cardiovascular medicine, nephrology, neurology and more. This Special Issue is dedicated to original research on the way hepatic disease relates to other pathologies and vice versa. Observational or interventional studies, as well as literature reviews, are welcome; also, rare and interesting case reports or case series may be published.

Aims and scope:

1. Interactions between viral hepatitis and other infectious diseases
2. The metabolic role of the liver: the importance in diabetes, dyslipidemia
3. Complications of liver failure: hepatorenal syndrome, hepatopulmonary syndrome
4. Liver affection after major surgery (abdominal surgery, cardiothoracic surgery)
5. Coagulation disorders in liver failure
6. Hemodynamic complications of cirrhosis
7. Liver disease as a result of treatment of different pathologies
