About This Special Issue
Based on the fact that, transportation and logistics constitute the major part of locational changes of materials, products and passengers, this special issue is intended to seek for researches that can enhance the various segments of moving people and goods for sustainable development. Sustainable development can be realized when the economy is good enough for all and sundry, when the environment in conducive for habitation and there is high level of social interactions. On these notes, better economy can be achieved with lower transportation cost without value accruable to efficient transportation system. Secondly, the resultant effects of mobility of man and materials should not be inimical to the survival and existence of same. Lastly, the interaction of vehicles, man and transportation infrastructure are the relevant areas for social sustainable development.
There is currently unprecedented development in information systems and technology which is shaping the mode of transportation and business transactions all over the world. Hence, the adoption and adaptation of these systems to enhance transportation and logistics processes cannot be over emphasized. Policy instruments and innovations resulting from technology and effective planning systems can be used to reshape transportation, infrastructures and environmental protection for sustainable development. Therefore, all these issues can be treated within the purview of the following identified areas:
