About This Special Issue
The proposed Special Issue focuses on the transformative role of digital technologies in promoting cultural heritage and historical tourism. With the increasing integration of digital tools such as virtual reality, augmented reality, 3D modeling, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), both historians and tourism specialists have unprecedented opportunities to document, interpret, and present cultural and historical sites to broader audiences. This Special Issue aims to explore interdisciplinary research that bridges historical studies and tourism development through the lens of digital innovation.
The primary objective of this Special Issue is to provide a comprehensive overview of contemporary methods and practices that enhance the accessibility, engagement, and preservation of cultural heritage. Contributions are invited that examine the use of digital platforms in facilitating virtual tours, promoting heritage-based tourism, and supporting the sustainable management of historical sites. The issue encourages studies that combine historical analysis with geographic and tourism perspectives, highlighting innovative applications of technology to enrich visitor experience and educational outreach.
We welcome Original Research Articles, Review Articles, and Case Studies that provide both theoretical and practical contributions.
