Transformation of the Speed Problem of Contemporary Clothing-Fashion in the Perspective of Social Acceleration Critical Theory

Abstract: The main critique of contemporary clothing-fashion from the perspective of speed focuses on fast fashion and treats its antithesis slow fashion as the main way to respond to and solve its problem. But the meaning of speed in contemporary fashion research relies too much on the physical speed level expression, which is obviously far from enough. Hartmut Rosa and Byung-chul Han are two representative theorists in the field of critical theory of social acceleration, and they have completely different views on the diagnosis of the current phenomenon of social acceleration. Hartmut Rosa positions the core of the current social acceleration problem as the "synchronization", while Byung-chul Han interprets the current time crisis from the perspective of "de-continuity". Based on their different diagnoses, the two scholars also give the healing tools of "resonance" and "contemplation" respectively. Their theoretical origins, problem diagnoses, and even proposed solutions are distinct but complementary in content. Based on these theories, this paper tries to further reveal the fast problem of contemporary clothing-fashion as the problem of "islanding" and the slow problem as the new possibility of healing contemporary clothing-fashion based on perception.

Abstract: In this paper the main outcomes of four researches carried out from 2014 to 2021 in three Italian regions (Abruzzo, Marche and Tuscany) will be shown, focused on the migrant's integration processes. In these researches social workers, educators, schools and L2 teachers, Intercultural mediators who work in the field of migration were interviewed about their difficulties in their daily work. The reading key use to understand their difficulties was the street level bureaucrats theory of Lipsky. Thanks to their statements, it was possible to better understand the importance of the role of the context that affects their work in providing services and how the changes of migration and welfare policies are very important in the influencing of relationship with migrant people. Their strengths and weaknesses will be highlighted. In all the researches those professionals showed about their frustration because of the politicians' decisions to cut or to limit migration and welfare services in a framework characterized by a lack of inclusive paths' programming. However, these professionals can play an important role of change in migration's local policies, if they are supported by researchers and Institutions. Indeed, in one of the researches their points of view about the bad consequences funding cuts to migration policies were used to propose to a Regional Councillor of Abruzzo to finance migration policies again, previously deleted from her predecessor and she have done it. So in this case a bottom-up process was effective. Another important factor that emerged concerns the attitude of these professionals to understand the complexity of the mix of international and local migration policies and their skill to propose virtual improvements in order to provide a better service to their users.

An Empirical Study of Carbon Emissions and Energy Consumption in China

Abstract: This paper obtains the data of China's total energy consumption and consumption structure from 1990 to 2021 from the Statistical Yearbook of China 2022. And use it to calculate the total coal consumption, oil consumption, natural gas consumption and primary electricity and other energy consumption in the same period; The carbon emission coefficients of coal, oil and gas from various institutions in Dr Danyang's thesis (2020) were used to calculate the total carbon emissions for the same period. Using these data and using unit root test, co-integration analysis, step-up regression method and generalized difference method, this paper empirically studies the relationship between total carbon emission and total coal consumption, total oil consumption, total natural gas consumption, total primary power consumption and other energy consumption in China. The results show that the total consumption of primary power and other energy has no significant effect on China's total carbon emissions. Coal consumption, oil consumption and natural gas consumption have a significant impact on China's total carbon emissions. In addition, when the total consumption of coal, oil and natural gas increases by 1%, on average, China's total carbon emissions increase by 0.82%, 0.16% and 0.03%, respectively. Policy recommendations are put forward accordingly.

Abstract: This paper aims to examine the major Role of women's participation in income-generating activities Demba Gofa werda. To carry out this study both primary and secondary data was collected and analyzed. Randomly selected 80 households were the source of primary data for this study. Secondary data was collected from the review of related works of literature. A binary logistic regression econometric model was implemented to identify major Role of women's participation in income-generating activities. The result of the logit model reveals that, Women in the study area are not allowed by their husbands to participate in high income earning activities. They are considered as a housewife and the only husband is expected to participate in high income-generating activities due to the local customs. As a result, some women participate in small business activities like livestock product sales, vegetable and fruit sell, poultry, petty trade, hairdressing, and wage labor. The output of the model indicates that women's education and access to credit were positively and significantly affecting the women participation in income generating activities whereas family size, market distance, livestock holding, and age are significantly and negatively affecting the dependent variable. Based on the finding of the study, the researchers have conclusion and recommendations.

Abstract: This article aims to analyze the constraints related to the low level of formalization of rural rights in Côte d'Ivoire. To achieve this objective, field surveys were conducted in the localities of Aniassué and Ettienkro, two villages in the Sub-prefecture of Aniassué in the Department of Abengourou. The choice of these localities is motivated by the multiplication of land security programs through land certification at work in these villages. The methodology used is a judicious combination of both quantitative and qualitative approaches on the principle of an interactive approach. The quantitative approach made it possible to collect quantifiable and measurable data from a questionnaire on a population group composed of 94 rights holders. As for the qualitative approach, it made it possible to collect nominal data from the use of the tools of the Accelerated Method of Participatory Research including interviews, observation, the Venn diagram, the problem tree and the solution tree. The results obtained put into perspective the demotivation of local actors and members of Village Land Management Committees (CVGF), the insufficient training of these actors, slowness in the recruitment of expert firms, administrative burdens in the validation of land certificates as well as the non-representativeness of state and private land structures involved in land certification.

Abstract: Political participation is the linchpin of democratic governance and development. Women are the majority of the population in many countries, including Ghana. However, their participation at various levels in decision-making processes in democratic governance is generally low. This paper focuses on the media through a desk review of relevant theoretical and empirical literature and examines the representation of women in Ghana’s media political landscape. The paper seeks to increase media awareness in Ghana about their role in moulding the public's impressions about women in politics and government, as well as their contribution to the fight for gender equality. The discussion was guided by the theory of representation. The study finds that both men and women receive massive media coverage. However, the media do not focus on women in democratic governance as intelligent individuals who have an impact to make in society; rather, they focus on their appearance, family life, parental status, or marital status. These perspectives create a narrow representation of women to the public. This discourages many women from vying for political positions, as it creates the impression that only men can thrive and succeed in politics. Additionally, the media is a gatekeeper that exposes the ills of government. This motivates politicians to work hard, knowing that they will be held accountable. The study recommends that women be given the same opportunities as men and that they be presented as people with experience and expertise to share. Media practitioners should highlight the positive aspects of women in political leadership.

Abstract: Totemism is an important notion in the lives of people in Africa and the world over. Certain customs and beliefs identify different people across the world; totems play a significant part in Dagaaba beliefs and activities. However, there has not been much research on clans and their totems among the Dagaaba. The research was conducted out in four villages in and around Jirapa. Sigri, Ullo, Sabuli, and Jirapa Municipality, Upper West Region. Purposive sampling was used by the researchers to acquire data. To collect data, unstructured interviews and participatory observation were used. Those interviewed were between the ages of fifty and sixty. The findings showed that the Dagara take their totems seriously because of the crucial role they are supposed to play among the different clans. Totems were revealed to be highly venerated among the tribes in the municipality. In the study of Jirapa's (Dagara) totems, they discovered that the bulk of the totems were animal-based, though flora was also acknowledged. Another discovery in the research was that every clan was formed with the use of a totem, which the elders taught the younger generation about. The study concluded that, modernization and cultural dynamism have impacted their survival in the environment and if care is not taken the younger generation will not have access to totems because indigenous peoples failed to conserve and protect the environment for survival. The study made the recommendation that more research be done to determine the purpose of African indigenous symbols in various ethnic contexts.

Abstract: Empirical evidence and extensive literature reviews have confirmed the dire state of South Africa's economy, which is characterized by high unemployment rates and economic inactivity. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic and recent civil unrest have only exacerbated the situation, leading to the closure of several businesses. However, amidst this economic turmoil lies a dormant wealth of unique indigenous knowledge that can be harnessed to empower indigenous communities and promote self-sustainability. In this paper, the researchers propose the use of indigenous knowledge (IK) to effectively empower indigenous communities. By focusing on the abundant medicinal plants, numerous entrepreneurial opportunities can be created. Indigenous Knowledge and communal land are often the assets that indigenous communities have access to and control, making them familiar with their use. It is crucial to recognize the potential of indigenous knowledge in promoting economic growth and self-sustainability. By leveraging this knowledge, South Africa can create a more equitable and inclusive economy that benefits all members of society. Therefore, the research aims to shed light on the untapped potential of indigenous knowledge and provide practical recommendations for its implementation. The paper is grounded in the Sankofa theory, which emphasizes the importance of looking back to move forward.
