Abstract: The present article aims to offer a short report of my continued studies and findings in the field of Linguistics of Translation and the methodology of analysis it may suggest. The studies stem on the one hand from semantics, namely the establishment of a semantic triangle (nomination, concept, referent) suggested by C. K. Ogden and J. A. Richards and previously by splitting the meaning of a word into semas, that successfully developed into componential analysis, and on the other hand from textlinguistics, namely the differentiation of three levels of informative capacity of content (factual, conceptual, subtextual) by I. R. Galperin in his monograph “Text as an Object of Linguistic Research”. It is worth noting that all these approaches have been developed through revolutionary changes in linguistic studies. Concerning the famous semantic triangle I put a question: how does a referent as an extralinguistic phenomenon participate in the formation of the meaning of a word, when we are aware of the fact that any word of a language as a system is a reflection of extralinguistic reality that is implied in its meaning, but in active speech, be it oral or written, with its nomination and concept refers to a concrete object of reality? The paper argues that extralinguistic reality is reflected in the form of a sensuous imprint, but developed into a sensuous image that could be regarded as a Linguistic Image. A linguistic image is enclosed in every word, but is called forth when figurativeness of the word is created. The acknowledgment of a linguistic image in a word permits to present the meaning of a word as a correlation of three main components: the sound form of a word as its nomination, the conceptual image as the significatum and the sensuous image as a linguistic image. The above presented study of the meaning of a word with a linguistic image as one of its components leads to trace the presence of Image Bearing Information in artistic texts alongside with Factual, Conceptual and Subtextual levels of information. The results of studies offered in the article imply first of all the development of the above mentioned trends of linguistics and at the same time an attempt to apply the findings to the phenomenon of translation.

Abstract: This research, whose title focuses on the "Dynamics of forms of treatment in the Portuguese spoken in Angola" aims to (i) describe the phenomenon of alternation of forms of treatment, precisely in the employees of the Municipal Administration of Luanda and the Provincial Office of Education of Malanje; (ii) to characterize the main cases of functional opposition of the forms of treatment in the municipal administration of Luanda and in the Provincial Office of Education of Malanje; (iii) contribute to the knowledge and understanding of the forms of treatment of Portuguese broadcast in Angola. For the implementation of the research, an oral and written corpus was used, the sources of which are the statements extracted from the interviews and questionnaires applied to the employees of the Municipal Administration of Luanda and the Provincial Office of Education of Malanje. For the treatment of the data, I proceeded to the comparative analysis of the forms of treatment used in the different contexts (proximity vs. distancing) between the speakers, with the intention of understanding the significant difference in the scope of their placement. I also realized that the dynamics of the forms of treatment in the institutions under this provide the possibility of their employment, implying several sociolinguistic factors, with an enhancement to the social hierarchy, formality vs. informality, education, age, etc. Thus, it seems to me that the use of forms of treatment is complex, because the sensitivity of the speakers of the two cities, with regard to the use of the forms of treatment is visibly diverse and, it is denoted, ignorance about the correct use of them. The results show that languages are dynamic and non-static systems and that the Portuguese language has its own particularities in the different national norms.

Abstract: Cinderella is a folk tale representing a component of unfair subjugation and victorious reward. There are various versions of Cinderella throughout the world. The main character is a young girl living in abandoned conditions that are changed to incredible fortune. Walt Disney produced Cinderella (1950), an animated musical fantasy film, based on the fairy tale of the same name by Charles Perrault. Translation has played a significant role in intercultural communication, and the translation of cultural specific items, the distinctive qualities of a particular culture, is the most important part of the process of translation. Culture-specific items are notions that are specific for a specific culture which may refer to realms such as plants, animals, food, accommodation, vacation, politics, and religion. The purpose of this paper was to compare and contrast the cultural specific items in English version of Walt Disney’s Cinderella (1950) and their translation into Farsi in the light of Peter Newmark’s suggestions about the translation of CSIs. The study gains significance as the findings can shed more light upon the translation procedures of cultural specific items in Farsi translation of Walt Disney’s Cinderella (1950) in the light of theories of Peter Newmark (1988). The findings of the research paper show that the translator of Cinderella has applied the procedure of addition, deletion, cultural equivalent and paraphrase more than the other procedures.
