Abstract: A social game is designed to fill in the blank of efficient and comprehensive social skills training for middle school students who have been diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorder. The game utilizes augmented-reality technology based on the platform of Microsoft HoloLens with support of the 5G network. The game combines two popular training methodologies and is further developed to include the advantages and eliminating the disadvantages of the two. Supposedly, the student will improve their social skills by interact with the virtual characters programmed with artificial intelligent (AI) with the support of high-resolution graphic by 5G technology and Holograph. Multiple virtual characters will be presented, and some will be engaging in fun activities to motivate the student. The student can start with reading the emotions of the static virtual characters and initiate a conversation or directly jump in an existing social interaction. The environment is simulated based on the real surrounding with the support of augmented reality, so the student can play it potentially anywhere to compensate the generalization deficit in autism. The game will be designed based on the methodology of Applied Behavior Analysis and will be tested for its value starting in typical inclusive classrooms using a multiple baseline design across multiple participants.

Abstract: Previous studies have demonstrated an association between positive psychological constructs and health behaviours. However, there is evidence to suggest that these constructs might relate differently to different health behaviours, serving both as facilitators and barriers depending on the health behaviour that is selected. The current study taps into this association by examining the role of multiple positive constructs (psychological flexibility, optimism, mindfulness and trait happiness) in relation to multiple health behaviours and constructs (smoking, alcohol consumption, Body Mass Index (BMI), and physical activity levels) in a large community-based sample. A cross-sectional study was conducted among Dutch volunteers from the general population. A total of 859 participants completed questionnaires to assess positive constructs and health behaviours. Cox Regression was used to answer the research question. The sample had a mean age of 48.2 ± 16.8, and consisted of 447 (52%) female participants. The results showed that psychological flexibility was positively associated with physical activity levels in age- and sex-adjusted models. Optimism was associated with a higher BMI. After adjusting for covariates both associations became non-significant. While a trend was observed, current findings indicate that positive constructs are not strongly related to health behaviours in a healthy adult sample. More research is needed to disentangle these associations and to evaluate whether this information can inform future development of interventions. The findings are to some extent in line with previous studies showing that positive constructs might be a facilitator and barrier towards health behaviour change.

Abstract: With the steady increase of rural-to-urban migrant laborer over the past decades in China, a growing number of rural children and adolescents has been left at home, called children left-behind, by one or both parents who cannot afford to bring their families to the cities where they work. And the mental health of them has gradually received widespread attention especially in depression. The study uses the method of cross-temporal meta-analysis to analyze 26 studies that used the Child Depression Inventory (CDI), ranging from 2006 to 2018 and covering 17498 left-behind children, to explore the changes in depression levels of left-behind children in Chinese rural areas over the years. The results showed that there was a significant positive correlation between the total average scores of the CDI and the years (r. = 0.42). The total average scores of the CDI have increased by 0.68 standard deviations for the past 12 years (d. = 0.68). Besides, the socioeconomic indicators from 5 years ago and the present year, including the urbanization level, resident consumption level, and consumer price index of China, significantly positively correlated with the total average scores of the CDI (r. = 0.33 ~ 0.35). The results suggested that the depression level of the left-behind children has been increasing year by year in recent 12 years, and the standard deviation of the left-behind children's depression level has also been increasing year by year. Furthermore, these socioeconomic factors were likely to be important factors in predicting the depression level of left-behind children. The risk of mental health problems among this large number of left-behind children indicates the urgent need for families, schools and society to work together and provide sufficient care to improve their mental status and cultivate good qualities.

Abstract: Background: The literature assesses feminist ideology using multifactorial scales developed in English and validated only in a Western context on African American, Asian American, European American and Latino American samples. The most recent version of these measures is the Femininity Ideology Scale (FIS), a psychometric method that only exists in the English language and whose factorial structure has not yet been validated; hence the fact that the reliability of the data collected through it is questionable. Objective: To fill these gaps, this study validates the confirmatory factor structure of the French version of the Femininity Ideology Scale (FIS) in the Cameroonian context. Method: The translation of the FIS follows the standardized “back-translation” process and maintains the initial factor structure of the original scale. The French version of the scale is validated with a sample of Cameroonian women (N = 575; Mage = 24.50 years; SD = 2.94). The statistical analysis uses a Structural Equation Model method (SEM) to test the confirmatory factors of the instrument. Result: The data collected show that the French version of the FIS is reliable and presents an acceptable confirmatory factorial structure according to the adjustment indices of the structural models (α = .80, χ2/df= 1.98, CFI = .901, RMSEA ˂ .06). Conclusion: The results show that the confirmatory factorial structure of the French version of the FIS is valid. This instrument is linked to measures of contemporary and internalized sexisms, gender based social dominance orientation and attitudes towards abuse against women.

Abstract: The emergence of this group of rural left-behind elderly is a problem of social development in China. According to surveys, the number of left-behind elderly in rural China is currently over 16 million and based on the ageing trend of Chinese society, and this number will continue to rise day by day in the foreseeable future. However, there is still a shortage of research and measurement tools about the current state of care services for left-behind elderly in rural areas. Following the scientific procedures for questionnaire development, this study conducted two surveys in 115 villages across five provinces in China and developed a questionnaire on care services for the elderly left behind in rural areas, which was used to survey and analyse a valid sample of 836 of left-behind elderly in rural China. The results were as follows. The questionnaire on care services for rural left-behind elderly contained three factors: national social care, care from offspring, and experience of being cared for. The questionnaire had a good internal consistency reliability of 0.806. The level of care services from offspring and the elderly’s experience of being cared for was relatively good; however, national social care was insufficient. Care services differed significantly depending on the number of children and age; however, sex and marital status differences were not significant. Care services for the left-behind elderly with a larger number of children in rural areas were significantly better than those with a small number of children; furthermore, those for the left-behind elderly in the 60- and 70-year-old groups were significantly better than for those in the over 80-year-old group. This study concludes that although the care service system for the rural left-behind elderly is improving, the overall situation of care services in China is still not very optimistic. Various policies and laws on care services for the left-behind elderly still need to be implemented, and social support and care services in various aspects need to be improved.
